Miss You, It’s Been Too Long – Faux Flip Card

Challenge day three, September 3, 2020, had me feeling sentimental for a friend I haven’d seen in months due to all that is happening in the world. I decided to bust open my Queen and Company Hello Sentiment Stacker Kit. It comes with three word dies with shadows, a cute tiny stamp set with sentiments, two beautiful paper pads in prints and solids that are so inspirational.

Miss You – by Janet Wright of Keep Being Creative

When closed, the card reads Miss You, It’s Been Too Long! Which is a lovely sentiment, but I had to add a little levity, especially for the fun loving person this card was made for. When you open the card up, there is a banner that has 2020 on it. So when open it reads, Miss You – 2020, It’s Been Too Long! Then I hand wrote, way too long!

I like flip cards, but I didn’t want to spend too much time figuring out all the right places to cut. I had seen similar cards that used a faux technique to achieve a similar look. In the spirit of Keep Being Creative, I decided to just try it out. I made a standard A2 card base with my Accent Opaque Digital stock – I’m finding it is very sturdy, but almost too thick. I’d love suggestions of a slightly thinner option, please leave a comment below! I then folded the front cover back on itself. I attached the pattern paper I had cut out with the Queen and Company foundation dies with my ATG, then used the sheer glue to attach the pattern paper circle over the scallop circle. Using the sheer glue helped me to be able to wiggle it into place. Once it dried, I attached my sentiments and bling and that’s it.

This card went together so quickly, but has that little extra surprise when it folds out. I will definitely be repeating this card style in the future.

There wasn’t really a place to write a message, so I used the entire back of the card to write my note. Then wrapped the whole card in lightweight scrap paper secured with washi tape to prevent the writing from showing through the A2 envelope I used.
